L is for Leaf

L is for Leaf!

Wow - I uploaded all the pics from the letter L and  was amazed at how much we did in one week. I may need to rethink how to do these posts. - Any comments are always welcome!

This post has to do with all activities we did around the letter Ll and Leafs. They are not in any particular order. We did structure our time so we did similar activities at the same time every day.
For the letter Ll leaf pages I got all the printables from 1+1+1 Printables

Morning time with Jumping Bean and Curious:

Intro to the Letter Ll. Our color for the week is yellow so you will see lots of yellow.
Curious did this for about 1 min. (hahaha)

This was a great Do - A - Dot activity. A leaf with Capital L and lowercase l.
J.B. had to find all the Capital L's then pass the Dot marker to Curious.
Then back to J.B. to find lowercase l.

Curious real attitude about sharing!

This is pom pom magnets. L is for Leaf you can find lots more at Making Learning Fun
Curious was apart of this. He was putting all the pom pom's into a cup
and caring them around the room. - It took a while to find them and get them back in the tub.

Part of Raising Rock Stars We add to this each day. Jumping Bean made candle puppets for both of them and we would sing "This Little Light Of Mine" together. Curious loved the puppet and song!

More fun play-doh time using L cookie cutters and L stamps.
As well as items to make impressions like leaves.

One on One Time with Jumping Bean:

Working with the Ll leaf lacing card - yes yellow string.

We are making a Letter Book. I got this fun idea from my aunt her daughter did something very similar - When I found it on this sight Home School Creations -preschool alphabet I had to do it.
This week Letter Ll. J.B. cut out the pics that start with Ll.
As he glued them on the Ll page we made sure to say each pic with the L sound.

Color recognition - Each leaf had the color written in word form in that color. Example: Red
J.B. had to color each leaf the right color and try to stay in the lines. - Good Job!!!

Different ways to practice handwriting.
This printable came from Confessions Of A Homeschooler (COAH)

Shadow Matching Uppercase L with Lowercase l.

He had to color the Letter Ll yellow, and the pics that start with the Ll sound yellow.
Once he followed the instructions he was free to color as he wanted.

Cut and Past shapes to yes yellow paper. When he glued them on we talked about what shape it was.

We went outside and picked leaves and glued them to make the letter Ll

Every day we write the letter. Here is one pic

Because it is fall in the AK - we have lots of yellow leaves.
Lucky J.B. got to use some pressed leaves to do his counting. We counted up to 10.

Having fun with Alphie the robot. Using the Ll card.

I gave him these cards that have a pic of something that starts with Ll
As we flipped them right side up one by one we said the pic using the Ll sound.
He then separated out his favorite ones.

Raising Rock Stars Time:

This is Raising Rock Stars Letter Ll. Every day we do an activity and add it to our board.

Working with our Letter Ll, Number 1, and sight word see
We used the cards in different ways. J.B. is reading is book.

Jumping Bean proudly showing is candle project with verse.

J.B. cut his verse and taped it together - it was almost as long / tall as he was.
