I is for Igloo

Ii is for Igloo

The week of 9/26 - 9/30 was Ii is for Igloo.  I"m trying to recall how the week went but I"m not really sure. I do not remember - so it must not have been bad.
Most of the Igloo theme came from 1+1+1=1

Morning Time Together:

Working with the letter I and red play-doh.  They both enjoy this and Curious is really coming along trying to roll the play-doh.

Our Do -A -Dot  time. I think Curious has a favorite color and it is Red. He seems to pick out red things over any other color - so this was really a Curious Week.

Letter Ii magnet time. Jumping Been did well matching colors this round.
Curious  just liked putting all the magnets on the cookie sheets
What did he loose interest? - Not Curious - There must be something more interesting under the table.
The I is for sheet came from Home School Creations

More play-doh time with impressions - like Ii cookie cutter Ii stamps, Ice cube tray.

One to One with Jumping Bean:

Igloo lacing Card

Working on Ii letter book. J.B. started cutting around the objects like the curve of the igloo, and the curve of the inch worm - I thought it was interesting.
Our Letter Book printables come from Home School Creations

Color Matching - J.B. had to color the igloo the color it asked for. Each Igloo was labeled a color and he had to match it. Example: Red

Coloring the Ii page red of course
Once he can listen and follow directions - he is free to color as he would like.

Different handwriting practice sheets.

Writing the letter Ii

Putting together the Igloo puzzle.

It's hard to see but Jump Bean is gluing cotton ball to make the letter I
The cotton balls are supposed to represent light fluffy snow.

Cut and pasting our shapes to yes Red paper. As J.B. glues them on we talk about what shape it is

Counting with Sugar cubes - they are supposed to be ice cubes.
All J.B. wanted to really do was build an igloo
-so check out our sensory bin post Fun With Winter to see our igloo!

Learning our Vocab cards - I happened to have a piece of soft Red felt so we divided Ii words into two categories: Soft Words like inchworm, and left the other words on the hard table for
Hard Ii like Ice Cube.
Not sure if that is the right way to teach the difference but I just wanted to point out the difference.

Raising Rock Stars:

Before we could start a new week - wee needed to put last weeks RRS away in our book.
Here is J.B. reviewing and organizing his verses.
- He is soo cute - I"m amazed that he remembers them as we look back.

This is how Raising Rock Stars Letter Ii  looked this week.
Focus was on the letter Ii
Color Red
Sight word Can
Verse Philipians 4:13

Both Jumping Bean and Curious colored their verse this week.
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" - Philipians 4:13

Making puppets  for them to use in the morning as we talk, read, or sing about our verse

Here they are using their puppets as we say our verse. I could not think of a song so I made hand motions to the verse - J.B. was not satisfied with this - He insisted there should be a song - so he made one up!

Learning the letter Ii in our verse.

Working our our mussel man - Because God is the one who gives us strength.
I used green paper as a motivator because it is J.B. fav color right now.

Learning other Ii words from the bible - Like Israelites - Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt

We cut and taped our verse to see how long it was.

Extra Fun:

Our Theme was Winter and the letter Ii is for Igloo so we played Penguin Pile Up
You have to balance your penguin on the ice burg - If you knock all the penguins off you're out.

A very excited yes I did it!!

Jumping Bean carefully adding another penguin to the ice burg - he did it and won the game.
