Fun with Spring

Fun with Spring

This weeks sensory bin: Made up of bird seed pics of spring and some blue bugs
Blue because our color was blue.

They boys have so much fun playing in all the bird seed! - Not so much fun to clean it all up!

Aunt M gave us the idea of sifting the seeds so we did - Here is what we started out with.

They each shook the colander

Here is what we ended up with - So J.B. and I talked about what size seed fell through and what size stayed and why. - Not sure if he got it - I am sure they had fun shaking the seeds.

J.B. coloring the Spring Tree

Jumping Bean is playing with Busy Bugs a Discovery Toys
This is really fun from learning colors - patterns - sorting - beginning math skills

Putting together our Spring Tree Puzzle

Working on our spring tree - we did Do -A - Dots for leaf buds and beans for the brown dirt.

Sorting seasons

H is for Hippo

Hh is for Hippo

The week of 9/19 - 9/23 was Hh for Hippo. This was a lot of fun. All of the Hippo printables came from COHS This was our week back from Tok and we still had some colds we were dealing with so if the boys are looking drowsy - they just weren't feeling so hot.

Morning Time With The Boys:

Working on our Hh play-doh mats. This one came from 1+1+1=1
Jumping Bean still is taking pieces of play-doh and putting them on there - he is not into rolling it like a snake and forming it. - I helped Curious out with his. - He was more interested in the container.

Our color this week was Blue - could you guess? The boys are doing so much better at taking turns with the Do - A - Dot Marker. I was surprised that Curious really tried to dot in the circles.

Our pom-pom magnets - J.B. does well with this.
Curious would rather play and throw the pompoms

Thursday came and I guess we did not do any more play-doh - I"m sure we (I) as exhausted and just ready to be done with school for the week.

One on One with Jumping Bean:

Working on our Letter Book - J.B. cuts out all the Hh words and glues them on. - We talk about the sound Hh makes and the word as he glues them on.
Printable came from Home School Creations

Some Color Matching Hippos. The Sheet had all the words written out in the Color (Example Blue) and J.B. had to match the right color hippo to the word.

Handwriting practice - latter he got to use it as cutting practice

More Handwriting practice

Different Letter Hh practice sheets. - We were struggling with and "I don't want to or feel like it attitude." - Hopefully it was just because he really was not feeling well, so to help with the writing I let him use color crayons, and color pencils to make it more fun. - Let's just say we got it done.

Working on Hippo Lacing Card

Hh is for Hippo puzzle - the toy hippos came from Noah's Ark set.

We had time after the hippo puzzle and J.B. really wanted to put the Tigger puzzle together so we did.

Working on our Hh is for hippo craft - He did it all himself - and it shows - Good Job Bud!!!!

These are our vocab cards - Hh says Horse and so on. I put our sight word and between the cards
so we could practice the word Hammock and horse - Well you can see how he responded. (LOL)

Sorting Big H and Little h - was pretty easy for him - but fun.

Sizing Hippos - this was more challenging - he got some right - so we spent some time talking about this and getting them in the right order.

Because we had time we added color matching to them.

Patterns were not as fun this week - J.B. did not like the AbbAbb pattern. The Big small Big small
he got with no problem.

He is really good at number recognition and getting them in the right order 1-10

Raising Rock Stars:

Here is what our board looked like this week.
Focus was on the letter Hh
sight word and
color Blue

J.B. coloring his verse.

Reading our book Hearts and Hands - Really we look at the pics - on occasion I ask him to find the word and - usually he finds it. I do not expect him to read - but he sure has surprised us from time to time. We think he recognized words, but does not understand it's reading.

Learning other Hh words in the bible. Example High - Lord I lift you name on High. Most of these jog songs for me - so I sing him different songs as they come to mind.

Letter Hh trace for the Verse Honor your Father and your Mother.

We cut out our verse and tape it together. J.B. done with Rock Stars for the week and knowing God's word - J.B. you are a Rock Star!!! Mom and Dad are soo proud of you!

Got in some Hungry Hippo action with Dad over the weekend!
