Tot Time with Curious

Is this boy cute or what?
He cleaned out the toy box and climb in.

Our Tot Bins for 11/14 - 11/18
We did well with our Tot Time - I was fortunate to have lots of zoo theme activities to go with our letter Zz is for Zoo.
Blue:
Plan Learning Letters - I pulled out only the ones that had animals I thought would be in a Zoo
Yellow
A zoo puzzle from Play N Learn
Green:
These are Mega Blocks with zoo animal stickers on them - so you build an animal. Came from a game called Domino Build
Red:
A Playskool jungle pop up toy.

Curious working on his Zoo puzzle - I was surprised that he could do most of this himself.

I showed him how to match up the letters. - As we went along we made the sound of the letter that went with the animal.

Curious stacked the letters - made some animal noises

Then he decided to stack the cards.

The animal blocks were by far the fav tot bin for the week.

Curious making the sound of a lion.

Here he is telling me about his elephant.

It took him a while to start taking them apart and put them back together. But he did and added others.

Thanks To Our Veterans

In an effort to teach Jumping Bean to honor our military - On Veterans Day we made Thank You Cards for some friends and family members.
A great way to teach about true supper heros!

I cut all the pieces for the card and J.B. glued them all together.

Next with a pencil I wrote "A Big Thank You" "For Your Service"
J.B. traced the words in Red or Blue marker

J.B. then used a Red or Blue Do-A-Dot to decorate  the cards

My Mom sent us some fun patriotic stickers that J.B. used to decorate his cards.

As we made the cards we talked about what makes a Hero, How our friends, family and people we do not even know risk their life to serve our country, so that we can have certain freedoms.
I'm not sure he got it all - but it was a good start!

To all of our military; past or present - A Big Thank You for your Service!!

Bug Net Sensory Bin

Here is our Sensory Bin to go with N is for Net
I wish I had a pic of the Boy's face in anticipation of the sensory bin.
They have really come to love this time of the day and look forward to a new bin each week.

Items used in the sensory Bin. - I decided to dye macaroni noodles - a little bigger than rice and
easier to pick up. (LOL)

Each time we got the bin out I would show the boys how to match the bugs. By the end of the week Curious was matching bugs as well - It blew my mind to see him do it on his own.
Good Job Curious!!!

They would collect bugs in their nets

put then in what we called observation tweezers

Put them in jars - J.B. would fill the jars with green macaroni noodles (grass) and beans (dirt) so they would live. - What a great imagination!!!

J.B. made a microscope to look at them. - I'm not really sure what he made but
that is what it looks like.

Of course there was lots of scooping, pouring, and sorting.

They sure had a lot of fun with this. - What boy does not like bugs?
I sure enjoyed watching them!

Building Patterns

To go along with with our Net theme we build patterns, then copied them with bugs.

I started 3 different patterns for J.B.
#1 - is an A,B pattern - RedPurple
#2 - an A, B,B pattern - Green, Yellow, Yellow
#3 - an A, B, C pattern - Blue, Orange, Green
You can see to the left are his choices to finish building the patterns.

Here is J.B. working on pattern #1

Here is is proud to have built his 3 patterns.

Because we are on N is for Net we added bugs to our patterns.
He has to look at the pattern and make it out of bugs.
I gave him a pile of Green and Yellow bugs.

I ended up holding my finger next to where he was in the pattern so he would not loose track.
That was helpful in figuring out what would come next.

Here he is done with pattern #2 - A, B,B  with bugs to match. - J.B. did a really good job, and
had a lot of fun with this! - So did Mom!

N is for Net

For the week of 11/7 - 11/11 we got to learn about the letter Nn
I had a lot of fun with the boys  - and boys sure do love bugs.

Nn is for Net printables came from Carisa at 1+1+1=1 - letter Nn
We are so thankful for her heart to make and share all of her printables.

Morning Time with the Boys:

The boys working on the letter Nn play-doh mats. Our color for the week was black

This is technically Do - A - Dot time - since I did not have a black Do-A-Dot we used markers.
I decided to give each their own marker - less stressful for Curious and myself.

This is Pompom magnets - 1st you see Curious - Then you don't.  - I"m not sure where he went. He must of been ok, because I do not remember him getting into trouble. (LOL)

He did not come back to finish so J.B. helped him out.

Coloring their verses for RRS

They hung out and read books a lot this week!

One to One with Jumping Bean:

Jumping Bean working on his letter page. This came from

J.B. working on color matching. Each Net has a color written on it and he has to color it that color.
Example: Red

Different handwriting practice the Nest printables came from COHS - letter Nn

Some shadow matching and sequencing. - J.B. is so good about talking thing out loud.
I really think he may be more of an audio learner.

Coloring things that start with Nn.

J.B. cutting and pasting shapes. - I just love his faces!!! - Yes you are funny (LOL)

Writing the letter Nn - The Nest came from COHS - Letter Nn

These are our vocab cards - As J.B. flips them over we talk about what Nn says and then the pic of the card. - He really need to get his wiggles out so we set up a race course. Each lap you had to grab a vocab card say what it was out loud and put it in the pocket chart. - The one with the most vocab cards wins. - Yes, J.B. won!

Jumping Bean working on his Net puzzle and lacing card.

Using our Net counting we counted up to 20 bugs.

To add to our bug theme we looked at this fun Search Book.  - I am not a bug person!!!!!!
Some of these pics were to much for me! So we skipped those and moved on.

Raising Rock Stars:

I forgot to take a pic of the board before I took it down.
So here is what RRS looked like for us this week.
Color: Black
Number: 10
Letter: Nn
Word: one
Verse: Matthew 6:24

J.B. and Curious singing and dancing with there puppets. We listened and sang a silly song about how you can't get to heaven on roller skates, a limousine, or a rocking chair.

Learning other words from the bible that start with Nn. Like New - In Christ, you are a new creation.
I had J.B. put them on Black paper because the color is black

The counter part was learning to store up treasure in heaven. Here is J.B. making his treasure box.

J.B. practicing the letter Nn in his verse.

He cut and taped his verse together - then we see how log it is compared to him.
Pretty short verse this week.
